Bump and Baby Photography
We’ve recently been rather busy enjoying making-up and photographing this lady. After her bump shoot, the minute she walked out of the door her labour started, so we were very excited to meet Delilah. With Christmas a a short bout of illness we eventually caught up with them both. This is the sort of photography you can expect from out Bump and Baby Shoots – involving Mum as much as baby in the second. Dad also helped out with the shoot, and lent both his shirt to Mum and posed with Delilah in his Fireman gear. We made good use of both the smaller Baby Studio and the Main Photography Studio for shots. To book a session please contact us here.

Abbie’s Lipgloss and Lenses Birthday Party

We welcomed our first party girls of the New Year to the studio last weekend. Birthday girl Abbie chose Lipgloss and Lenses to help her celebrate her 10th birthday with her two closest friends, Emma and Chloe.

We played a few games to get everyone warmed up and banish any nerves and then the three girls each got a makeover before having their photographs taken, individually and as a group. You can see from the photographs that we specialise in age-appropriate makeup. We don’t want to make young girls look like painted dolls, or appear older than they are. To us, it is all about bringing out natural beauty and creating a subtle look that looks great on camera. This approach is, we believe, the reason why our bookings for girls under 16 are increasing all the time. The process of being pampered is just as important and just as much fun for the girls as the end result.
Since moving to the new studio we have much more space and as a result we can play about a bit more with sets and backdrops. At present we have four different set-ups for our girls’ pamper parties. We still offer the traditional high-key portrait look with a white background, but in addition we have delicate pastel coloured backdrops and our very popular graffiti wall. The latest addition is a dramatic back-lit black and white set with a checkerboard floor.
We have plans for even more sets in the near future to expand our range and keep our look fresh. The detail is hush hush at the moment, but watch this space.

Ask yourself what you don’t like about yourself – write it down and change it. If it’s that you feel like you’re not successful, turn it around – I’m very good at what I do and I will be successful when I achieve the next step…whatever that may be. Try to give yourself small goals to work towards – ‘I’ll be successful
when I’ve mailed out this order’ rather than when’ I’m managing director’.

Win a Make-Over Photo Shoot – You know you deserve it!
As part of all our celebrations we’re offering over this week, the chance to win a Make-Over Photo Shoot for you and a friend or for someone whom you have nominated- either contemporary or Vintage, worth over £120 . The winner will be announced on Friday 7th December.

Here at Lipgloss and Lenses Towers, we’ve had a very busy time recently. This has included not only numerous parties and Make-Over Shoots but also the Opening Day at the Studio and Launch of the new Photo Booth and celebrations of Lipgloss and Lenses’ first birthday (the name Lisa and I go under when working together).
The Make-Over Photo Shoot will involve you coming to the studio in Greenfield for a session of pampering and make up, hair styling and then a photo shoot involving over 3 different sets. You may change clothes to get an altogether different look and style. At the end of the session you will both be able to choose an 8×10″ print of your choice and a facebook gallery of images to share with friends and family.
(Make-Over shoot is non transferrable and to be used within 3 months of closing date.)

We will bring along our mobile tent studio, packed full of fun props for you and your guests to pose with. Take your pic from our selection of wigs, hats, glasses, moustaches, boas and props galore and say “cheese” for the camera. Be as silly as you like, we dare you!
Our Big Top is bigger than the photobooths run by other companies, so we can accommodate several people at a time. The big top adds a fun twist to any party and is particularly popular for wedding receptions. We can provide props to suit the theme of your event and we guarantee that your guests will love it! All is very exciting in the glittery world of Lipgloss and Lenses because we have both been shortlisted in the Vintage Manchester Awards. I (Lisa) am nominated for Best Vintage Beauty and Jude is on the shortlist for Best Vintage Photography. To say we are excited is a major understatement. Lipgloss and Lenses in action
Just a quick pic from the Saddleworth Vintage and Handmade Fair on the Queen’s Jubilee, a few weeks ago. Not the most flattering of either of us but it was the end of the day and we’d both been working very hard. Lisa, in the beautiful Union Jack handmade circle skirt is the Make-Over side of the operation, Jude sporting swing trousers, is the Photographer.

Why You’ll Never Find Lipgloss and Lenses on Groupon.
Vintage makeover photography from Lipgloss and Lenses
Like most people I get those daily Groupon emails and I have even bought a couple of deals in the past for canvasses to put my photographs on, but I would never dream of advertising my own services on there. I see ads for makeover photoshoots on there at least once a week for around £19. Sounds like a bargain doesn’t it? The services of two professionals – a makeup artist and a photographer – for just £19?
As one of those professionals it sets massive alarm bells ringing for me. Jude and I couldn’t possibly offer the high quality service we are known for at Lipgloss and Lenses for that price. We would lose money. I have a theory that there are only two ways companies can make money by offering prices like that. Either they offer a very substandard service, knowing that Groupon customers are after a bargain and will most likely never come back, or they massively inflate their print prices and put on the hard sell once the session is over.
I have spoken to people who have experienced both scenarios. What happened the next time they wanted a makeover photoshoot? They decided that you get what you pay for and they came to us. At Lipgloss and Lenses all of our pricing is completely transparent. Our reprint prices are very reasonable and are there to see before you even book. Jude and I love our work and take great pride in it, whether we are doing a single makeover portrait session, a group photoshoot or a photo pamper party.
A couple of weeks ago I received a phone call from Groupon. They had seen the vintage makeover photoshoots we specialise in and thought it would be something a bit different for them to offer. I politely declined, much to the horror of the person on the other end of the phone. He seemed genuinely surprised I didn’t snatch his hand off.
Days later, sure enough there was an offer from another photo studio offering vintage makeover photoshoots. Not a service I had ever seen them offer before, but hey, immitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no? I thought no more about it until this weekend I saw a post from a reputable photography studio irate that one of their images had been copied and used on an ad on Groupon. Guess which offer it was?
Like I said, you generally get what you pay for.
